SideScatter accessibility statement
Version 0.1, effective 22 Oct 2026.
Anaphase wants SideScatter to be usable by as many researchers as possible, including people who use a keyboard only, a screen reader, magnification or high-contrast settings.
Conformance status
SideScatter is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means some parts of the content do not fully meet the standard. A full audit has not been done yet; the known problems below come from a review of the code and the interface.
Known problems
- Plots: scatter, density, histogram and layout plots are drawn on canvas and their contents are not exposed to screen readers (WCAG 1.1.1). Workaround: the statistics table, the population hierarchy and the CSV and spreadsheet exports carry the same population counts, percentages and medians as text.
- Drawing gates: creating a new gate needs a pointer (drag for a rectangle, clicks for a polygon) (2.1.1, 2.5.7). Workarounds: selected gates can be moved with the arrow keys; gating templates and FlowJo .wsp workspaces can be applied without drawing; and the optional AI assistant can create rectangle, polygon, ellipse, quadrant and interval gates from typed coordinates.
- Colour: density plots use colour maps to show event density, and some status badges rely on colour together with short text (1.4.1). Workaround: the colour map can be changed in plot settings, and the numbers behind every badge are in the statistics table.
- Dense interface: the main window has many panels and small controls, and some text is below the size we would like at default zoom (1.4.4, 2.5.8). Browser zoom up to 200 percent works; at high zoom some panels need scrolling.
- Floating windows and pop-outs: focus order across floating plot windows and the pop-out layout window has not been checked (2.4.3).
Data graphics are visual by nature. Where a value is shown in a plot, SideScatter aims to make the same value available as text or a table.
How this was checked
Code and interface review by the developer on 22 Oct 2026. No automated (axe) audit or screen reader test has been run yet; both are planned before the beta label is removed.
